Build Expo LHZ Heater Winner
Judy, an Architectural Designer is now the proud owner of an LHZ
heater after attending the Build Expo held in Auckland in
July.
HRV's Commercial Sales Manager, Rhonda Taylor, said
"Judy was overwhelmed to receive her prize. The room
the heater went into was very cold at the time of our arrival.
After half an hour of switching it on, we went into the room and
she was delighted to feel how cozy it was. She loved the design of
the heater - calling it "very posh looking".
A very deserving winner!

Builders Tips:
Why builders should discuss ventilation with their
clients
- New homes are being sealed up really tightly with new
requirements for insulation, building wrap and double
glazing.
- The building code requires at least 0.35 air changes per
hour or at least one complete air change every 3 hours.
- The G4 code states that this shall be achieved by
providing a net openable area of windows of other openings of no
less than 5 % of the floor area.
- Home owners are creating anything up to 20 or 30 liters
of moisture per day by showering, cooking, breathing, etc.
- A Californian study showed that less than 17% of their
home owners open more than one window on a regular basis for
ventilation. We believe that NZ figures are very similar.
- Because we are not ventilating our homes on a regular
basis high levels of moisture are retained within the building
envelope leading to mould and other problems.
- As a builder your reputation is based on the
functionality of your homes which can be drastically affected by
excess moisture (crying windows).
- Double glazing has the effect of raising the temperature
of the internal glass and thus may reduce the amount of
condensation on this area. However the actual level of moisture is
likely to have been increased and the condensation is now more
likely to appear on the aluminium unless the thermally broken suite
is used.
