G Grimshaw
Dear Mr Foot,
Your note of 29 July refers.
So far, it being early days, we are entirely satisfied with our
HRV installation. Initially, your representative Peter Donaghue was entirely
frank about what to expect and what not to expect, and a part of his projection
which led to sales lay in his ready identification with my own tastes and
pursuits. Installation was rapid and unobtrusive and the usage manual was
clearly and fully explained.
Now, after a few weeks of running the system, we are able to
report that the condensation problem has improved by a factor of about 95%,
this figure being an approximation based on time spent with towel early in the
morning as compared with time spent pre-HRV; this is in spite of the fact that
we are still using our unflued gas heater during the evenings.
We are conscious of a more even temperature in the house with
narrower fluctuations than earlier, and of course that cool weather temperature
is now noticeably higher.
Some effects may have grown on us. I instance the fact that
more than one visitor has glanced around in puzzlement and has asked what has
changed since the last visit. Since there are no visible changes, we can only
attribute this to an improvement in atmospheric conditions within the house.
On such occasions we do mention rather smugly our new HRV system, and they go
away seemingly in some thought. We feel we can do no more!
Quick notes - dehumidifier for sale, not used since
installation; kitchen odours reduced, not eliminated, so range hood still in
use; operation silent (although we may not hear as well as we used to); siting
of vents appears satisfactory.
Sincerely,
G Grimshaw
