SolaMate… from HRV
Harnessing free energy from the sun

SolaMate panels sit on your roof facing the sun.
Fresh air is drawn through the SolaMate panel which absorbs the light and converts to heat… to warm the air.

The incoming warm fresh air is filtered through the HRV system's medical grade filter and then distributed through your home.

Warm filtered air, free from pollutants gently circulates through the rooms creating a warmer, drier, healthier home environment.

An additional benefit - the SolaMate cools your home on hot, sticky summer nights using cooler, fresh night air.

  • Low emission winter air heating
  • Low emission summer night cooling
  • Improved indoor air quality
  • Substantial reduction in home energy cost

Warmer winter days…cooler summer nights
It's your roof… your free solar energy…

The HRV SolaMate harvests and boosts the natural energy of the sun providing a natural, passive heating and cooling alternative to conventional methods. By maximising the sun's free energy, heating and cooling costs will be substantially reduced - in some cases, replaced entirely.

When heating, the amount of solar energy harvested by the SolaMate panels is entirely unaffected by outside ambient temperatures - even on cold, yet sunny days, the HRV SolaMate system can deliver large quantities of heat throughout your home. Even on cloudy days, ultraviolet and infrared light will penetrate the clouds to heat the SolaMate panels. On most rainy days there are generally periods of intermittent sunshine - the HRV SolaMate responds instantly to the changes, harvesting all available solar energy as shown in Figure 1.

Figure 2 shows the difference in temperature between the air inside the SolaMate panel and the air outside. On sunny winter and spring days, SolaMate uses this additional heat to ensure that the occupants desired temperature will be reached quickly and, once obtained, the HRV system will automatically turn off to prevent overheating the house. Without the SolaMate system a typical house would be 2°C below ambient conditions during the warmest part of the day. The occupant is saving energy and their comfort levels are significantly improved.

During summer, the SolaMate panel brings in cool night air as soon as the sun goes down. On a warm, still summer evening it can be over 10°C cooler outside than inside a building. SolaMate will introduce this cool, fresh night air as soon as the sun goes down and continue to do so all night. Not only does the cool breeze make you feel more comfortable but it will lower the core temperature of the building. This will significantly reduce the air conditioning load required the next day.

Serious about sustainable living and the cost of energy? We are. The HRV SolaMate represents an innovation designed to maximise your home comfort and minimise emissions and cost.
